Creative Director

“As my artist’s statement explains, my work is utterly incomprehensible and is therefore full of deep significance” - Calvin and Hobbes

Los Angeles-based muralist, Nichole Blackburn Manthe is the Creative Director of Celadon Studio and Fine Art. Nichole is a native of Southern California. She has been drawing and painting her entire life. Her extensive knowledge of color and design enables her to create standout work ranging from 200-foot murals on boom lifts to old world maps on two-story ceilings. Nichole’s artistic specialties include large-scale murals, hand-painted skies, ornamental ceilings, decorative wall finishes, children’s rooms, and thematic nurseries.

Nichole attended the prestigious Otis Art Center in Los Angeles on scholarship for the Young Artist's Program. She went on to receive a B.A. Degree in Fine Art and Design from San Diego State University. Nichole always seeks fresh ways to take her passion for drawing and painting to the next level. She has traveled to over 45 countries to broaden her artistic experience within a global setting.

Nichole maintains a creative edge by continually investing in painting classes and workshops. She has trained internationally with the industry’s top muralists and decorative painters. Nichole spent a year in Paris, France studying with world-renowned decorative painter Jean Sable at his studio in Versailles. Prior to that, Nichole spent a month on the American East Coast studying under William Cochran, one of the country's leading trompe l'oeil muralists. During this time, Nichole joined a select team of six artists who worked on a five-story public mural project called "The Dreaming." Nichole also studied under world-renowned artists Nicola Vigini (Italy), Pascal Amblard (France), and Sean Crosby (New York), as well as Melanie Royals of Royal Design Studio.

Nichole has brought her distinct style and artwork to numerous Los Angeles hot spots, restaurants, celebrity homes, and landmark hotels. She has worked with some of the industry’s best architects, interior designers, and ateliers to build a solid reputation.
When Nichole is not painting, she enjoys spending time with her twin sister, trekking through off the beaten track locales, scuba diving, snowboarding, and traveling to far-off destinations with her wild South African husband.
