FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

NICHOLE BLACKBURN

Nichole Blackburn is a Los Angeles-based artist and founder of Celadon Studio and Fine Art, where she specializes in custom murals and fine art for interiors that want more than just decoration—they want story, soul, and a sense of place. With over 20 years of experience and projects spanning residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces, Nichole combines a classical painting style with a modern eye. Her projects range from refined ceiling murals and hand-painted children's rooms to bold feature walls and custom canvas pieces.

With hands flecked with plaster and paint in her hair, Nichole is happiest working with Old World techniques infused with a New World vision. Her distinctive style is shaped by formal training, global travel, and a career defined by curiosity, craftsmanship, and creativity. Having explored over 50 countries and studied under some of the world’s leading decorative artists, Nichole brings a signature style rooted in classical methods reimagined through a modern lens.

Nichole began her artistic journey as a teen, earning a scholarship to the Young Artist’s Program at Otis College of Art and Design. She later earned a B.A. in Fine Art and Design from San Diego State University, where she began painting murals for friends while interning at the San Diego Museum of Art — a passion that grew into a full-time business.

Nichole’s affinity for Old World art eventually brought her to the cobblestone streets of Versailles, France, where she trained under Jean Sablé, one of Europe’s most respected decorative painters, honing her craft in classical painting and French decorative techniques. Today, Nichole brings that depth of skill to custom projects for clients who want more than just art — they want meaningful, personalized visual experiences.

Each mural or canvas Nichole creates is a collaboration. She works closely with clients to design site-specific work that reflects their vision, their space, and their story — whether it’s a serene nursery, a dramatic hospitality installation, or a fine art commission for a modern home.

A native of Redondo Beach and lifelong Angeleno, Nichole draws inspiration from the rich creative culture of Los Angeles —from the dynamic street art of Venice Beach to the graffiti grit of downtown LA, the vibrant Arts District, and the endless Pacific Ocean. This dreamy, daring, and delicious atmosphere is the perfect place for an artist to thrive. When she is not painting, Nichole is sailing, scuba diving, trekking, or traveling to a far-off destination.

Nichole is also the founder of Big Sky Countries, a nonprofit organization that creates murals for children’s facilities around the world.

THE PROCESS

At Celadon Studio and Fine Art, every project begins with a conversation to understand the space, the client’s goals, and the kind of atmosphere they want to create.

From there, the creative process begins with a visual collage — pulling together reference images and color palettes to shape the design direction. Next come digital renderings to bring the concept to life and capture our vision.

Depending on the project needs, Celadon Studio provides hand-painted samples so clients can see the textures and techniques up close. Once the design is approved, it’s time to head to the site and start painting.

Each project culminates with final touches — layers, highlights, and details that give the piece depth and character. Everything is reviewed with the client before it's officially complete.

Celadon Studio works closely with every client throughout the process. Every mural, canvas, or hand-painted space is created by hand — custom, intentional, and made with you in mind.
